The La Joya High School Chess Club was founded in the fall of 2015 by two sophomore students who shared a love for chess. They envisioned a club where an opportunity would be provided for the students of La Joya High School to learn, and practice chess. It is the hope of the club to instill in its members an appreciation for the ancient “Game of Kings.” The club’s objective is to create an environment where students from all backgrounds and interests can come together to enjoy a game of chess. Being a part of the LJHS Chess Club enables the members to improve their chess skills along with meeting people they might not otherwise socialize with. Our club welcomes anyone who has a slight interest in finding out the magic of chess. The club meets during lunch in the cafeteria. Stop by our table and enjoy a game.
